For me Lost is the greatest TV series of all time, Theres not one single episode I didnt enjoy, and while there are may other great shows, shows that are perhaps more consistent than Lost, No other show has made me feel or think like Lost did.
Lost's highs far exceed the highs of any other show for me.
My viewing interests are ECLECTIC [thought I would just add that word to show how knowledgeable I have become at speaking clever speak] so my choices would fall into so many categories. The only thing I can suggest is that when you have multiple episodes available [however that has been achieved] and watch a few back to back then you can suggest that you are enjoying a story. I have many series that I am watching the majority an episode every few days similar to how it might be seen on normal Tele viewing but Lost has caused me to watch daily and in a few cases a need to watch a few consecutive episodes. Of course BB and Dexter has caused me to view in a similar manner but I invested my time in The Good Wife which is not mentioned much and just had to see more than a few episodes at a time. This and Suits made me wonder how can they make this subject so watchable. Years ago I watched the PRACTICE and starred at most lovely [I do not know why] Kelli Williams and due to an appearance of the wonderful James Spader I was drawn then to Boston Legal. Another multiple episode binge fest with Spader and Shatner making it most watchable. the fawning view of Kelli drew me to Lie to me whcih while over the top performances by again a wonderful Tim Roth [check out his character in ROB ROY, class performance].
What is good or best is just like Beauty and the beholders eye just as I suggested with Kelli Williams. Mind you I would stare at her legs a lot.
Lost is holding me and I know that it is going to end badly or so a few flashes of information seen even in the make up of a posters thread is telling me.
I may well be left feeling empty with a lack of knowing the whole reason for the story. Many series have ended abruptly just to get them finalised and out of the way. Dexter is suggested to have ended poorly but while I would have liked him and the lovely her to go around dispatching those that law firms get off to an island as in lost perhaps actors move on and writing teams must get bored when you consider the way they manipulate flagging story lines. I feel that when an idea is mooted for a story the inception and the ending must be made clear at the outset. Just as an example 'The Fugitive' David Jansen. This was one of many long running series from 60s and 70s. While the premise was in this case of a man on the run having been framed for a murder the ending had to be either his death with case unsolved or that he would be found to have been framed and then exonerated. How we got there was just filler week by week with perhaps a snippet of useful clues to an eventual satisfactory ending.
The Hulk [Bixby and Ferrigno] enjoyed by a younger audience of course left us wondering just how did the changing man manage to get himself a new set of clothes every time. Could a sexual encounter have made him so cross that he could split a girl in half.
All that unimportant to the avid fan base of the time.
Being the creep that I have already mentioned I am even enjoying this recent outing of Supergirl. I have no gripe with CGI and all that technical stuff. But I do have slight drool when I see Kara/Kira and those lovely really young looking legs. Proving that High Heels are not the requirement of those who are gifted by 'GOD' who incidentally may well also take some pleasure from viewing his creations. Unless of course God is Allah and Supergirl in that world is seen as a burqa wearing subservient using a carpet to get around. Then anybody could of course be given the part.
I digressed just like some long running story lines away from the thread.
Another tale that had a start a long running conspiracy some nonsense in one season and and ending that just sort fell short of the mark was DAMAGES. Enjoyable but the nonsense ruined it a little for me. Same as the nonsense that Prison Break entered after Season two. I did however enjoy the part played by Paul Adlstein and again a connection with a yet unfinished [viewing] series Private Practice.
Lost to date for me at 5/14 has been worth time watching.
Best of all time. That statement cannot be true for a large number of people.
Definitely not. It was good while it was on air and I watched episode of it on Channel 7 up until the final but the final episode ruined it for me and I haven't re-watched the final season again since the show went off air. Going back to the island was a dumb move and I think the writers should have ended it when they originally planned to but the network kept offering them more money to keep the show going.

"Is LOST the greatest television series of all time?"
Yep.
By far.
The end.
Yes it is.
Its better than Breaking Bad.
Its better than Game of Thrones
I haven't seen the Sopranos so I'll hold judgement but its probably still better anyway
Its better than Mr. Robot (although I still have to see how this show ends. Its currently in its final season)
But anyway those are the only 4 shows that hold a candle to Lost imo.
Nope, that would be Batman (the 1966 TV series), or maybe Star Trek (with Shatner and Nimoy, you don't have to call it TOS, they didn't.) Or maybe Breaking Bad.
The first few seasons of Lost were great though.
