The dog was a Time Lord and the Mailbox was a Tardis.
That is all.
shareI was just going to post about why no one ever mentions the dog. Lol, she was the one who brought them together.
shareJack ran away from Alex a couple of times. The first time, it looked like Alex would chase Jack across town if he had to. The second time Jack took off, Alex just let him go without a fuss. That kind of struck me as odd.
shareI too found it odd on first viewing, but realised later that as Alex was leaving the Lake House Jack had to find a way to Kate so Alex let him go.
Si vis pacem, para bellum
The difference is that Jack was still courting Kate on the first occasion and didn't want to risk losing Jack since that might also affect future Kate's possession of Jack.
On the second occasion, Alex had already been dumped by Kate and wasn't reading his letters. He probably figured that this was how the future Kate obtained Jack. Early Kate is about to move into the Lake House and Alex knows he needs to let Jack go for for her to obtain Jack. Trying to keep Jack would impact future Kate and possibly make things worse.
Alex knew it was time for Jack to be with Kate. Sometimes the heart just knows.

So the mailbox is bigger on the inside than the outside - but how the heck do you get inside?
shareIn the words of a certain Keanu character: EXCELLENT!
You want something corny? You got it!
