Alex

How did she not realize Alex was the guy that died when he was dying in her arms. She couldn't see his face? She remembered the guy that kissed her at her birthday at that point so that's slightly strange imo! The dog thing also confused me because the dog was Alex dog first but in 2004 she talked to the dog about a photo and apparently she owned the dog then... how?

And how would they ever meet? Like ever.. because he's dead in current time.. even if she tells him not to go that day so he can live he would always be two years behind her time... he wouldn't just come back to life now. unless he meets Sandra bullocks character two years prior.... it's impossible for her future self to end up with him though

Kate told Alex to not go to the plaza just before he was about to leave to go there in his time. By not going to the plaza he changed everything. He didn't die. He would now be alive in Kate's time (the future). He could actually go see her at any point but it would be risky since their relationship is still incomplete in the past (Alex's Time).

In movies of this sort they usually don't go into detail on all the events that would now be different. Like whether he would now work with his brother at the Architecture firm. He could even show up at the restaurant where Kate waited for him in his time now if he wished, But he chose to wait like she asked and show up at that moment at the Lake House. He had to wait two years. She only had to wait a couple minutes.

On the day Alex died he was hit by a bus so his face and body was likely disfigured to an extent that made him seem like someone different.

It may be possible that the mention of the dog when Kate was looking at the older pictures was a goof. But we don't know that is true. Since Morgan was not her boyfriend at that time (not shown in picture she examined), he would not have recognized the dog when Alex arrived at their doorstep to retrieve Jack. She may have owned Jack and then it ran away to Alex through the time travel.

That doesn't make any sense ... lol!!! Because she wrote him and had been sitting at the lake house because she figured out what happened but if he didn't talk in her past then the every thing would have been different in her present time... lol!!! It's not like time stopped for two years and allowed them to meet... it's like he was living two years behind entirely the entire time... lol how did the two years finally catch up? Because he died in one future and didn't in the other. It makes no sense.

Sorry, I probably could have explained it better. The past catches up with the future. Alex changed the future by staying alive and going to the Lake House at that moment when he knew Kate would be there.

The party's involved in a time travel/dimension effect do not lose their memory (or at least that is the way it is always portrayed in books and movies). So the future Kate still knows everything that has happened up to the moment when the Alex (that also knows everything) arrives. Kate still knows that he had died and now he has no longer died. People who don't know anything about the time travel (like Henry) will no longer think Alex died because they are not involved on the magic effect. Henry is oblivious to the magic events and thus his timeline does change along with his memory of Alex.
