Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in the lead roles?

I recall reading that Pitt was up for Damon's role but had to drop off to do another film. But apparently Pitt had wanted Cruise to play DiCaprio's role? Not sure if true or just rumor but very interesting. Had this had been made in say mid to late 90s I could see it happening. But in 2006 not so much.

I think TC would be a little too clean cut for such a gritty movie.

I thought he dirtied himself up in Collateral pretty well. I always like seeing people who typically play inherently good characters try being the bad guy. It doesn't always work. As for Tom Cruise, there are a number of reasons why that wouldn't have worked as well as Damon.
