Scorsese's love of the "rude awakening"
I just recently picked up on one of Scorsese's signature moves (perhaps discussed before)... Was watching "Wolf of Wall Street" and the water in-the-face scene where Jordan wakes up to a face full of water brought up a lot of memories. In Goodfellas, Henry wakes up to a gun in-his-face which of course leads to a major plot turning point. In "The Departed," we see one of Costello's lackeys lying blissfully asleep and waking up to a picture of Jesus, which Billy Costigan slams into his face... Scorsese loves the "wake the *beep* up!" Scene. It's a great Segway into a new scene! Anyone else notice this?
