sullivan noticed madolyn crying for billy at the funeral

i watched the movie today and i realised that sullivan noticed madolyn crying for billy at the funeral, like he suspected something but i guess it wasn't it.

did anyone had the same feeling?

Yes, he was able to figure it out. When they left the funeral, he said, "what about the baby" and she kept walking.

That scene after the funeral was an obvious homage to final scene of The Third Man (1949) when (also after a funeral) Alida Valli just walks right on by Joseph Cotten.
