Ranked as #1 on Worst Movies of 2006 by Ebert + Roeper?

I understand everyone is entitled to their opinion...but they didn't think any movie was worse than All the King's Men in 2006?

What about Crossover, which is ranked as the "worst" movie on IMDB? That came out in 2006.

I just find the claim that Ebert & Roeper called it the worst movie of 2006 pretty shocking.

I guess it made the list because it was such a disappointment. You're right that there were worse movies, but with that cast and the source material, this movie just should have been so much better.

Pretty harsh - AtKM wasn't very good and it should have been way better, but if that's the worst film that came out that year, then it must have been a pretty good year!

those lists are pretty subjective. one year they made a list and neglected several zero star reviewed films and had their number one worst film of the year to be a two star film. it looks like sheer disappointment factors into those lists a lot more than simply what was the absolute worst.

Yeah, I don't know about the worst of 2006, but it's definitely up there in the field of disappointment. Anthony Hopkins was almost laughably bad with how he went in and out of that accent. Sean Penn... I guess he did pretty good with what he had to work with. A little over the top, but fairly accurate to the actual person. Jude Law wasn't too bad. But he didn't really have much room to act in it. I still can't figure out why Kate Winslet was in it.

I may be wrong, but I don't think they themselves put it on there? I think it was rather the choice of one of their invited guests to the show... To my knowledge, there isn't even a written review from Mr. Ebert.

I never did one thing right in my life, you know that? Not one. That takes skill.

Those rankings, to reiterate a point other posters have already made, are based on degree of disappointment. The greater the disappointment, the harder the fall. I'd place several other films alongside All the King's Men as highly anticipated, big budget duds. My list for 2006 would include Basic Instinct 2, The Black Dahlia, Flyboys and Poseidon.

Really, what jerks.

I guess their rise from ugly stupid fat ass schmucks to TV personalities
have them thinking they are in the elite of the US royalty now and need
to smash anything that appeals for the average American.

There is no way this is the anything but an outstanding classic of film.

The story, the acting, the truth, no was this was not top-notch.

reply

It's funny, there isn't even an Ebert review linked from imdb, so presumably he hasn't even reviewed it.
