Did the accents throw people off?
AS I see here, the rating is a bit lower than I expected. I give it a good 7/10. It thought it was pretty good. I did however wanna see Penn's character show more affection towards Jude Law, and maybe understand what the f' was going on between the "old blonde" and the governor but it wasn't really that big of a deal.
To me the biggest problem here is the accents. That's probably what turned people away from the story. I am a Texan and had a bit of a problem with a few lines at times. The Cajun accent is pretty crazy, kinda like a mixture between a Tommy Lee Jones and Eminem, strange stuff yeah. So I don't know why they picked Jude Law for this role. When it comes to accents like these though, they should stray away from British and Aussie actors, it's hard enough for Americans to even pull 'em off in my opinion. The movie is good, the speeches are really good. Kinda reminded me of White Lightning and Oh Brother Where Art Thou. Deffinitely better than the film I saw the other day, The Watchmen.
The movie is underrated and if it's not, it's the best 6.0 I've ever seen.
