Familial relationship query
Was there fammily relationship between Judge Irwin and the stanton brother and sister, if so, would that have made any sexual relationship between Jude Law's character and Anne Stanton immoral?

shareAs far as I can remember, and it has certainly been awhile since I read the book or saw this movie, Judge Irwin was originally attorney general under Governor Stanton, prior to becoming a judge. I understand it sort of seemed as if the families of the wealthy were somewhat incestuous because of how close they were. From the outside though it would have appeared as if the Stantons, Irwins, and Burdens were simply close family friends who lived near one another. The children of those families would play together, grow up together (just as Irwin, Jack's parents, and the parents of the Stanton siblings would have once done), while the adults dined or attended their high-brow events with one another. Obviously Jack discovered that Judge Irwin was his father, rather than just his godfather and his parents' best friend, but I don't think that made him anymore biologically related to Anne and Adam.

None. They all lived near each other in the rich part of town. That's it.
