I HATE Hollywood portrayals of the South

Its been downhill ever since The Green Mile, another serious stinker. Its so cheesy, so obvious, so f--king manipulative. Whenever Hollywood portrays the South, I just skip the film. It used to be mildly amusing, not it just irritates me.

Seems you are missing a lot of good movies because of your prejudices.

Are you from the South? If so, where? Just curious.

I don't hate all movies from the south, but it's really, really rare to hear anything close to a real Southern accent. I've lived in the South all my life and never heard some of the crazy accents I hear in the movies. James Gandolfini was pretty close in this movie, but mostly they kinda make me laugh out loud.

Half of my family is from (and still in) the South. None of them are racists, KKK members, have Gomer Pyle accents, play the banjo, or run stills in their back sheds. The caricature of the Southern buffoon/racist goes back a lot further than "The Green Mile", all the way to silent movies, and even earlier stage plays.
