Possible idea for sequel.

Just an interesting idea that occurred to me, not that I'm expecting anything:
Several years later, Lucy and Aaron get into a romantic relationship, bringing up past issues their parents had with each other. If done right, I think it'd be a good movie.

No!!!! There is no need for a sequel. This film wrapped itself up quite nicely. No need for any follow up.

How about her husband finding his true love with the gal he got with and they run away with the daughter. I get tired of films showing that the wife gets to take the child and not give a hoot to the father aspect of it's his right to be in there child's life. Why run away when he said he would support them. It seemed as if she felt he was not needed in the child's life and that is something she should not do.

I would just fast forward a few years finding that they did eventually leave their spouses. Now married to each other, they have the same exact issues that they had in their previous marriages. The things that drew them to each other eventually got stale. They now desired what they once had in their earlier marriage so they cheat on each other. Confirming that the problem was with them and not the spouse in their earlier marriage, they come to realize the error of their ways and divorce. Both now regretting how they treated their previous spouse, they seek them out but find that their previous spouses have moved on and are now happily involved with others. Kathy is married to a producer and is now a very successful film maker and money is no longer an issue. Richard is engaged to a very hot blonde (not "Slutty Kay") who loves him and has no problem spicing things up for him. So now both Brad and Sarah are doomed to live their pitiful lives alone.
