I emailed Long Way Round Ltd and they confirmed a rumour that I heard on the internet and they said that their is a possibilty of a new dvd with a lot more unseen footage of the trip coming out later this year. ALSO they said a book might be coming out full of pictures from the trip!! How ace is that!!!
I'll probably get the extended DVD if & when it ever comes out, but y'all who are waiting for it to come out in the US or Canada might want to think about ordering it from amazon.co.uk (or sendit.com). I've ordered DVDs from both places & have no complaints. I'm told www.hmv.co.uk is also good, but I've never ordered from them myself.
If you live outside of the E.U., www.amazon.co.uk will even deduct the VAT they have to charge (and is included in the price of their stuff).
Even tho the DVDs from the UK are Region 2 & in the PAL system, in North America, if you buy a DVD player like a Philips 642 (from CompUSA or Target or even amazon.com) which only costs between $50 and $70, you can play them flawlessly. AND this amazing player also plays mpeg & avi files (including DivX files) beautifully. I'm telling everyone I can to get one, especially if you have discs from around the world or want to play Divx files. (LG, JVC & Samsung also have players that'll play mpeg4/divx on any TV, but I'm not sure about their PAL/multi-regional capabilties.
Sorry if I sound like Ron Popeil, but this thing REALLY, REALLY works :)
Don't wait for this DVD to be released by some US distributor. Lots of extras & extended scenes are available & viewable now.
Thanks for the advice. I'll try that. It might take some time because I've got bills to pay. But, I'll definitely try your suggestion after the bills are paid (maybe next month.)
