...Ewan to say, "you don't need to see his identification" at one of the border crossings... That would have been awesome! Loved all the other references though...
Long Way Round is one of the best docs I've seen - it always manages to find it's way into my DVD player lately...
A short while ago I heard Charley Boorman on the radio in Australia promoting the Long Way Round documentary, and he was saying that at the Slovakian border (I think. The one where they had to wait for 10/12 hours) they got so bored of waiting there that Ewan went up to one of the border guards and said in classic Obi Wan fashion: "These aren't the bikes your looking for move a long." However because none of them had seen Star Wars they didn't get the joke.
Yeah its a great doco though good for repeat viewings, and a personal source of inspiration to me.
That part is on the DVD but I didn't realize they were at a border when Ewan did it. He was bent over one of the bikes and this car slows down and everyone in it just stares and he quietly says that line - It was freakin' hysterical!
I also like it when he said to Charley (after Charley said he hadn't done his video diary because he wasn't "feeling" it yet) "Well, you must do what you think it right..." in perfect Obi Wan fashion.
I don't own the DVD yet but I'm getting it soon. I rented it because I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy it but when my time was up I didn't want to give it back! I guess I should've just gone ahead and bought it.
