On such a long journey as this..............

..............I wonder if either of them had a crash?

Yes, Ewan was almost killed in Calgary. He was slowing down and a car came and rear ended him at 50 mph. Ewan almost came off his bike, but luckily, Mr. McGregor is still alive and kicking.
I think Charley also got into an accident but it was a minor one, also in Calgary.

I have 23 years of riding under my belt and have a few years during that time racing... Almost all of that is with "Sport/Touring" bikes (GPS "Recorded" miles are around 16,000, trips worth adding/turning on, remembering to!) I digress, it may sound like alot but just another part of life for me... Not having a bike is akin to fix or relaxation (Zen/Meditation, whatever), it makes my inner wheel go round and around! These men have done an incredible feat (for those of you who say "But what about there support vehicles, money, etc..,"), think about the saddle time, hours, road conditions and obvious inner doubts of even partial success of achieving there goal of 20,000 miles! Crashing is not awonder of if but when... There are two types of riders, the crashed and the soon to be crashing! I am amazed that I am still alive today but also know that I am more alive today because of my riding... Now the kicker... I am a lighting tech. in the film industry. I live in Salt Lake City and you might have seen a small film done here recently called "The World's Fastest Indian"... I put these fun loving, tough as nails actors on par with the real Burt Munroe. I even worked on Ewan movie done here called "A Life Less Ordinary". They crashed, got burnt out and kicked butt! My hats off to both of them! May more people do even half of what they love and give back, as in ther UNICEF charity along the way, your life no matter how short, will be long and prosperous! OOPS, just fell off my apple/soap box, thanxs for listning, STONE.

stone7889: I would have to agree on these two guys achieving an incredible feat, going from London to NY [20,000 miles]! Some have stated that they had so much help with the support team and such, but they still had to do the rideing on often no roads at all, and not speaking the language in most of the countries, not to mention the danger of being on the road. Thanks for expressing yourself so well. Very interesting post. I'm just glad that they made it back in one piece. Anything could have happened along the way, espically the way the world is today. It was great that they ran into so many nice people, and I love that they got interested in helping others through UNICIEF. It was also great that they all became such good friends by the end of the trip. Some had a bit of a problem getting along at first, but everything worked out just fine. I loved going along with them on their journey via the TV series and DVD.
