Why they didn't cross the 'Bering Strait'?

Yesterday I finally saw this show, which I loved. But my question is why in their plans they didn't think of crossing the Bering Strait? I mean, they are traveling the whole Asian continent in bike (some parts in boats), they easily could get to the nearest point of Bering Strait and take a Boat to Alaska...

I don't know if there are no roads at all or high mountains impossible to pass, but still... Instead they got a flight from Magadán to Anchorage, they saved there like 3000 Km, ¿feels like cheating?

Thanks!

The fact that there are no roads between Magadan and the Bering Strait, or between the Bering and the rest of Alaska, may have played a small part in that decision. ;)

The war is not meant to be won... it is meant to be continuous.

Hey! Thank you for your reply, I thought no one was going to answer an old topic, haha.

And yeah, you're right... I then realized that the Strait isn't that small after all, and the ONLY moment that people were able to cross it was like hundreds of years ago when people from Asia crossed to the Americas!

Thanks!!
