Why wasn't this released in the theatres?

This Movie was as good as Underworld and other similar type Movies. This Movie really seemed built for a Franchise? Hope there's a Sequel in the works.

not sure why myself, I guess the story was too cult-ish for the mainstream, and the Vampire genre itself is not usually good in mainstream unless its presented in the slasher style, ala 30 days of night, or Dusk till Dawn..lol.

I also think the Church didn't want to give this full sanction.

Film had NZ premiere in Dunedin (home town of Glenn Standring) in July 2007 @ Film Festival (also Wellington Festival later). Did have general public screening in Oamaru (main filming location) so may have been one-off.
As for sequel - unlikely. Dunedin audience had a Q&A session with Standring & Tim Sanders who explained that the Perfect Creature website elaborated on the story including subsequent events.
PS it was fantastic fun being an extra in this production - THAT changed my world!!
