Reminds me of Anno Dracula

At least I think that's what the title of the book was. Granted, there are differences in time and such...but the general idea of humans and vampires co-existing in an alternate time matches.

In the book, Dracula was never killed by Van Helsing and spreads the plague throughout the world. It was weird reading about vampire prostitutes and vampires in welfare homes, as well as vampires in positions of status and participating in "high tea" by drinking from obliging serving personnel. Also has a serial killer spin on it as well.

Great book. Highly recommended.

Reminds me more of Brian Stableford's The Empire of Fear. And I wrote Anno Dracula.

Kim Newman wrote Anno Dracula, the first book in a trilogy I think, followed by The Red Baron, and The dracula chs cha cha, [I may have the titles wrong it's been a while] My favourite is the first because of the interaction of the fictional characters from the original Dracula in this new world with fictional characters from other classcal victorian novels, like Sherlock Homes.

The novel is so great, I especially love the part when the two main characters visit Dr. Jekyll and then one of them asks the other: "Do you think, he is Jack the Ripper." And the other one replies: "I think there is definitely something wrong with Dr. Jekyll, but I don't think he is Jack." *lol*

And of course that Dr. Jekyll is working together with that guy from the H.G. Wells novel, Moreau, was his name I think ...

"Why a spoon, cousin? Why not an axe?" - "Because it's dull, you twit, it'll hurt more"

I loved Anno Dracula...which combined so many dark elements from the Victorian era. I loved seeing the alternate destinies play out for the various real-life and literary characters.

Wasn't fond of either of the sequels though. They lacked engaging backstories and plot twists of the first.
