He directed that Alita: Battle Angel movie last year.

I never noticed, but I did see that movie. Too "gamish" for my taste but that's where the new filmgoing generation is going. Robert can't evolve as a filmmaker.

I enjoyed it better than expected. I think for some reason he got stuck making dumb kids movies or sequels no one wanted for five, six years.

I liked Once Upon a Time in Mexico and it felt like his own magnum opus to a genre he long admired, but I was expecting him to become more dynamic after Sin City which I liked in terms of style and story-telling. I especially thought that by now he'd be developing movie serials for Netflix, HBO or Amazon Prime.
