Neil deGrasse Tyson's Top Ten Sci-Fi Films( The Island is one of them)

The Island (2005): Apart from too many minutes of gratuitous chase scenes, I think this movie is profound in its message as well as visually stunning. A rare study of science in the service of vanity, mixed with an exploration of corporate profits, human identity and free will. I've always viewed “Gattaca” (1997) as a lower-budget cousin of this film.

Thoughts?

Gattaca is superior To this movie in everyway besides the fact that Scarlett is Hotter then Uma.

While I thought both movies were good, I would also say that Gattaca is the superior film. The chase scenes in the Island, while exciting to watch, got somewhat tedious. I'm sure that Ewan got tired of yelling 'run' every two minutes~lol! Plus, Gattaca was the first movie that I saw with Jude Law. I thought he stole the show!

I'm a bit surprised Tyson did not list Gattaca in his list, too, given his reference to it in his description for this film. Or, at least, make a runner up. Oh well, it's his list.

He gave a good arguement, and that's what matters. And he has a lot of balls to compare it to GATTACA.

I was surprised by that. I could probably come up with 20 or 30 better sci-fi films.
