one question (spoilers if you haven't seen it)

One thing I noticed that didn't make any sense was during the surgery of that Stearkweather guy, the one that wakes up mid surgery and realizes that they're gonna kill him. Right before he wakes up, the doctor realizes that he needs more anesthesia or he's gonna wake up, and the doctor says "I don't wanna have to euthanize him just to take his liver"...

That statement made NO sense to me. Taking his liver was the point of the surgery and they knew he wasn't gonna survive that, so what difference does it make to the doctor?

Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before.

Its possible that after the main organ is taken, they may keep the clone alive to take other things, Marrow, Blood, etc for a secondary buyer.
I wouldn't think keeping a person around that long just for a liver and "tossing" the rest would make much sense.

"This is the privilege our customers pay for."

They killed the pregnant lady-- and everybody else that was supposed to be going to the island.

And taking his liver --- he will remember since he is supposed to be going to The Island. It didn't make any sense.

The writers of this film sacrificed a few logical things like this for catch phrases like this and pacing.

It is possible that they were only going to take 1/2 of the clone liver as is done in real life cases with a living donor. The liver is unique in that it will regenerate over time and both persons will end up with a full liver when the process completes.

I think they like to keep them alive until the liver is removed, then they euthanize them.
