This was the Michael Bay movie that went under my radar for the last decade. Just watched it tonight and enjoyed it. It's nothing great in the writing department, but no one can say Michael Bay doesn't make visually pleasing cinema. 6/10.
Highly underrated movie.I would say this is one of the top action adventure movies ever made.Slightly thought provoking , along with really good action sequences.
I wouldn't go that far. It lacked in originality and the story could have been much deeper. It's incredibly well shot, the cast was great, and the acting was decent. I can't put it among the best action or scifi movies though. It's far from The Matrix and other top tier scifi action movies.
Yes The Matrix is one of the purest sci-fi films even though the sequels where not upto the mark. But I can't agree with you on this film's lack of originality...as far as I have seen there aren't many movies with such plot.
Matrix and The island can be said as similar if we say both contains humans being grown and then rebelling against the creators...but actually the only movie that I remember being somewhat close to The Island would be Arnold's 6th Day.
Maybe I haven't seen enough movies on this topic...but when I first saw this one I was really impressed...And it still does!
The depth of a film is dependant upon your personal experience set, and how much that experience set becomes ignited by familiarities in the film. Thus a film itself is often neither objectively deep or shallow. It becomes either depending on the viewer.
