Does Mother Gothel remind anyone else of Carrie's mother?
The main antagonists of their respective stories, both were stern, dominating mothers who wanted to shield their young adult daughters from the outside world, Margaret because of her religion, and Gothel because Rapunzel was the lost princess.
When their daughters came into contact with a potential love interest, their first instinct was to shoot down the opportunity by using insults and scare tactics. Towards the end, both were able to convince their daughters they were right about that all along, the key difference being it doesn't last on Rapunzel, while it does for Carrie.
At the end, both are killed by their daughter's powers, and are mourned by them, because prior to the story, they were all each other had.
And heck, Gothel and Margaret even have similar hair and voices.
So...?
