Did he suffer from a medical condition and what was it?

I don't think he did I just think he was an extremely naive and impressionable boy.

Well, he seemed to feel rather lonely and sad.

I think he was just more introverted than the rest of the characters.

I felt that Lonnie had abandonment issues. Afterall, his father wasn't existent, and his mother had obviously re-married Charlie, who wasn't really invoved or caring for the kids...his only contact with his sense of self was Tobe...and she was growing up and may be going to leave him soon too.
I felt that this was why meeting and spending time with Harlan was so dangerous to him, there was every possiblility that Lonnie could dissociate from 'reality' and choose his own fantasy life, just as Harlan did
