would you...

...date/go out/hook up with someone who's 15+ older than you?

If he looked like Harlan, yes I would.

Seriously though, I think Harlan is supposed to be younger than Norton actually is. Throughout the whole movie I thought Harlan and Norton was in the range of age 25-27. Later I found out that Norton was 36 when he made the movie. I don't know how I got there, maybe it's his babyface and lack of facial hair in most of the scenes.

reply

Sure, why not. I am legal, and age is just a number. Obviously, I don't go out on a mission to find a man that much older, but if I meet one and we hit it off, then great. Btw, I am 18.

reply

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Norton is older than Harlan was supposed to be, but even if Harlan was 25-27, he was still a little too old for October IMO.

I'm in my teen years (for lack of a better term), and yes, I would date someone older than me. The fact is, I find most guys my age immature and irritating. I realize that someone that much older is illegal, but if I was in love with the guy, would it really matter to me? Not really.

I agree, if he looked like Harlen then hell yes. But I'm not 17 anymore so it's easy for me to say that now. Granted once he started acting strange I'd be like c-ya!

Norton looked gorgeous during his mid 30s. This movie and Painted Veil were so swoonworthy!

Too late to ask me that, my better half is about 15 yrs older than me. It's no big deal. I'm 33 myself. On the other hand, my mom has a boyfriend who's 12 years younger than her, so maybe that evens out the score a bit.. =)

reply

...how about for those who are still on their teens or early twenties? let's hear what they think on this matter. =)

also, thanks for those who answered.

Yeah, I'm 20, and I have a bit of a problem believing that a 15 year old girl would date a guy like Harlan. If anything she would react as her friends did and just make fun of him, instead of trying to figure him out or whatever she did.

I enjoyed the movie, but I did think the age difference was odd, and almost unbelievable. Norton looked obviously older. But, then again, he was a nutbag, so I'm assuming that he would go for the 16 year old girl. I also have problems believing that the father would ever let it go on for as long as he did. He only put a stop to it, or tried to, when they got in trouble with the cops. He was such a "tough guy", or at least tried to be. Also, he was a cop. To me, he kind of seemed like he would have had that shoot out within the first 20 minutes of that film instead of after the nutbag shot his daughter.

reply

I would, but only if I knew him well enough. Obviously I'm not gonna pick up 15+ year older stranger at a gas station.

I'm watching you watch over me and I've got the greatest view from here.

reply

I totally would. I've always had a thing for older guys, there's just something about the idea of being with an older guy that i like. I'm 21 but I wouldn't mind a guy in his 30s.

reply

YES YES YES!!! i'm 16, but age is just a number

reply

I took Harlan (a.k.a. Martin, his real name) to be more like 22 or so. I can see a 16-year-old girl being interested in a 22-year-old guy.

Is your point so weak that you must have the last word?

Yes, I would. If Edward Norton came knocking on my door I wouldn't keep it closed. LOL! No, seriously I don't think age is a problem. Like someone else wrote here, it's just a number.

reply

harlan was only, at the most eight years older than tobe. not even.

reply

Yes, but it depends the kind of person he is and if I know him well enough. I'm 18 and I've always love watching stories about lovers with big difference of age.
