The ending

I watched this film right through for the first time last night (I had tried to watch it once before, but found the rape scene too disturbing and turned it off).

Does anyone else think that the shoot-out and him getting the $100,000 back would have been a better place to end the film?

I felt everything after that point was just unneccesary.

I must have taped it same time you watched it, just finished watching it.

The rest of the film is necessary to tie up with the beginning, when someone in prison is writing Charlie's story. So at the beginning we're meant to think that Charlie has been imprisoned for something.

At the end we find out he hasn't been, he just teaches there for community service. Then we find out who really wrote that story.

Oh, and the end bit is necessary so we find out who did get stabbed with the shank! It had been heavily telegraphed that the shank was going to be very significant.

I never loved your mind, Dewey Daniels, I never loved your mind!

no, as it was good to see him take revenge on the guy with the shank his dead friend gave him

Yes. Ending the film earlier would've been better.

The "Halloween" style Michael Myers isn't dead thang is way too common and didn't fit here.

reply

No. I think it was necessary. Since the beginning of the movie started as it appeared, the ending had to tie it up to make sense. Also, it added more suspense and twist.
