Did anybody NOT see.... (spoilers)

...Winston getting killed the minute Clive starts telling him about his problem? I knew it as soon as he said "I'll scare him off your back."

I feel like I've seen that plot development so many times but the only thing I can think of at the moment is the anti-bully from Three O'Clock High that gets knocked out in the library. Oh, and the detective in Cape Fear. Any others come to mind?

I didn't see it and you just spoiled two movies.

Nothing in this movie surprised me. It was strictly by the book. Of course Frenchie will kill Winston. Of course everything about Aniston is a big lie. Of course Frenchie survived - certainly since he did not attack Clive in the room once more. And of course Clive finishes him off with that shiv we've been presented with earlier.

Dear Notcha-hooha, mookie mookie hama. Kau-kau manua.

It could have gone down any number of ways - Winston could have been part of the con. Frenchie could have accidently killed him. Jennifer Aniston could have killed Frenchie in the end because he was so vile and she had become so enamoured of Clive Owen.

Yeah, it was a suspense film with twists. But the twists could have been contrived to work differently.

I knew Winston was gonna bite it too. I couldn't believe Charles thought some guy waving a gun in his face was gonna scare him off for good. I mean the gun wasn't even loaded - wtf was Winston thinking?

Charles' mistake was thinking LaRouche was just some stupid, petty criminal. I mean he dressed up nice, went to Charles' house, won over his wife and child - he was an experienced con and Charles' was stupid to think he would just be so easily scared off.

reply

Well, that part was pretty much a given, especially how close Charles and Winston were.

I was way off. I thought Winston was in on it.

And I had no idea who wrote in the blue book at the end, totally didn't expect it to be who it was.

Did not bring my A game to this one.

But I did believe from the beginning that Lucinda wasn't Lucinda, though they were clever enough to have him use the phone number from the website and not from a card she gave him - that would have been a major tip off. I was even still suspicious when he met with her at her office, but I wasn't sure how it would be worked out.

The best film I've seen with this type of twist was Malice - I was did not see that one coming at all.
