I saw the ending coming (spoiler)

I figured out that she must have been in on it almost from the very start. I knew there was a twist and that was the only one that instantly sprang to mind. That there was no picture of her on the company web site bios was a clue.

And that no raped woman (or any other rape victim) would refuse to call the police if something like that had ever happened, jealous husband or no jealous husband. Enspecially if nothing had actually taken place during an interrupted one night stand.

As a matter of fact, I thought that other characters might have been in on it, too. Such as Winston or the police officer relative.

If you see enough movies, you can see practically every developement coming.

Sadly LOTS of woman don't report rape.

I know a woman who didn't report a rape but it was because she didn't want to put herself through the hell of dealing with the police and courts and pressing charges and having to confront the man and the STD tests and so on. Just wanted to have it over with and forget about it. That and she blamed herself for it.

That's an understandable reason- but not wanting your husband to know sounds a little fishy.

The "it was all a scam! And everyone except me was in on it together!" twist is in many movies, from Matchstick Men to The Spanish Prisoner.

The only thing that doesn't quite fit is that she offered to pay part of the blackmail- even handed him the cash. I guess they were banking on him being a gentleman.

I didn't see the twist coming but I did have a sense of 'Something just doesn't add up' -feeling..

About the rape: As another poster as said; a lot of women don't report rape. I thought it was understandable for her not to report the crime ( because of a couple of reasons that you've stated in your second post).

I disagree with you on Winston and the police offer also being involved. That (and I know that sounds strange) would be a bit farfetched. Consider this.. If Winston was apart of the gang why would he try to help Schine? Better yet, why would he risk his life? It just wouldn't make sense to me. As for the police-officer : if he was in it also why did he let Schine free?Wouldn't he have wanted to take revenge for Winston and the others?

That just doesn't make sense to me at all..

I thank God I have none of you in me.

Your comments are just ignorant- plenty of women don't report rape or assault:

It is totally believable that Lucinda wouldn't admit to the rape as it would mean she would have to admit to the affair

Do guys like "the thing"?
They like it better than no thing.

I'm going to admit that I've seen the ending for this before whilst it was playing on TV in the background. However, having seeing the whole movie now, I can say that I would probably have figured it out.

It just seemed odd that he was putting all of his energy into targeting Charles. Lucinda didn't get her family harassed and wasn't followed around/called or threatened. She barely had any contact with LaRoche and seemed a little too innocent. I figured there had to be more to her than meets the eye.

If you saw the jail scene at the end coming, the entire movie must have been a waste of time for you. I on the other hand prefer to not try & think too far ahead so I really enjoyed this movie.
