Would've been over in 15 minutes if...

Clive Owen's character had a spine and common sense. I couldn't believe all of the stuff Charles lets the bad guy get away with, all he did around the bad guy was whimper and exclaim, "Take all my money, please don't kill me", and meanwhile, Clive Owen looked like he could kick the french villian's a** at anytime, but instead, his character took all of the punches.

yeah thught of it, when lerooche was at charles house, he seemed kind of small, with that grey suit on! Clive looked twice as big, but hey, that maybe isnt all.

The controverse is , that he got scared, and wanted to protect his family, and got paralyzed... but at the same time, u shuld get soo pissed that they guy is threathing your family that you would just want to kill him... and I guess that´s what happened at the end..

Exactly. Glad someone said it. I couldn't believe it that Clive Owen's character let himself get pushed around by that scrawny little shlt. I know physical presence isn't everything, but this guy is far too weak and pathetic looking to be taken seriously.

THEY DID search him for weapons.

She didn't betray me. You have know someone to call it betrayal

What I find comical was how he felt this need to protect his family by giving this doofus thousands of dollars...when he could've just said, "Screw that, I'd rather have my wife pissed at me for nearly sleeping with someone else than have both her and my daughter murdered by someone who has my personal information," and went to the police with the truth, instead of doing what some woman told him to do.

Why So Serious???

You nailed it Chrissy!

The minute Frenchie asked for the first twenty, Charlie should have run to the cops. Even a 10-year old should know that if you give in to a blackmailer, they will come back for more.

This is the one huge hole in the plot that makes it a very stupid movie. Too bad, b/c otherwise acting was decent. Maybe the script was written by some sort of computer software during the recent writers' strike in Hollywood? (Just kidding, of course).

Very idiotic plot!!!

I agree...Owen's character was a wimp and got more idiotic as the film progressed.

I coundnt agree more he shoulda just called 0800-dirty-deeds-done-dirt-cheap. No more Mr Slimey Ass Frenchfry.

The ending made up for all of that, when Charles shanked him. I loved that part.

If the problem was solved right away, then what would be the point? There would have been no movie.

I kinda wish there wasn't...
