I dont care how much i love my wife...

Im not going to pay no 120,00 of blackmail money just because he caught me having an affair. I would say go ahead and tell me wife its not like dude had video evidence or something.

Him not calling the police was extremely cheesy and corny especially since the money was saved for 7 years for his extremely sick daughter.

He would rather spend his sick daughters money they got saved up for her then call the police and let aniston deal with her own problems? That wrapped it up for me.

Why didn't he just call the police and tell the story as if Annistons character was never there? He was smart enough to wipe off hand prints off guns at the end and act like a witness. BAD MOVIE

Really do the same scam at the same hotel? Lmaoo

When his homie gets killed wouldn't you think that was the last straw? He risked going to jail for life getting rid of the body cuz he would have easily got convicted of the murder.

The twist i seen coming at about a good 25 minutes into the movie.
Why would he blackmail him and not her?

He didn't call the police at first, per Lucindas request and because he thought it was over and felt guilty for not stopping the rape. As the problem escalated, he wanted to, but as his lawyer said **NO PROOF** No police report from the first night. When he tried to stand up to LaRouche after the demand for money got huge, Winston got killed, and having no idea where LaRouche is, calling the police would put his familys life in danger. It's just a case of bad decisions and a surreal situation escalating. Yes, the sensible thing would have been to call the police from the beggining, but if put in that position, who knows what the hell you would do.

Well it got to the point where it wasn't just telling the wife he was going to have an affair - LaRoache was going to kill her and the child unless he got the money and he wasn't bluffing either because he killed Winston and in the end we find he'd killed other people as well before that.

Seriously, I would not take money from my sick child for any of that crap. I think the rape thing is what made him feel so bad and i think she said she was pregnant and had to get an abortion. He didnt know she was in on it and didnt want to ruin her life after what she had been through.

I was never under the impression that he gave the blackmail money because he was afraid his wife would find out. He was prepared to call the police right after the attack, so that was never an issue for him.

By the time they asked for $100k, he had every reason to fear Frenchie, and fear for his family's safety. He had been violently attacked in the hotel room, he thought Lucinda had been violently raped, he witnessed Frenchie murder Winston in cold blood, Frenchie had ingratiated himself into his home and befriended his wife and sick daughter.

Since there was no police record of the initial attack, since Lucinda was not cooperating, and since he had covered up Winston's murder, he would be hard pressed at this point to guarantee that Frenchie could be successfully prosecuted.

His only hope, from his perspective, was that he could buy his way out of it.

So, no, he would not "rather spend his sick daughter's money that he got saved up for her than call the police and let aniston deal with her own problems". He did what he thought was the only thing he could do.

He had her wallet.

I'm a Lieutenant Detective in, uh, Homicide. That's a fancy name for murder.

but having her wallet proves nothing, she could have said she forgot it in a restaurant or lost it...

Exactly! That's why this movie stinks. Charlie may love his wife and feel terribly guilty about Lucinda's "rape," but still that doesn't justify handing the $$$ to the bad guy. As if Frenchy wouldn't come back for more!

Don't get me wrong. I understand that movies, like any work of fiction, require some suspension of disbelief, but not "suspension of common sense"!

I have to agree completely, I can honestly say that being a parent, there's no need to wonder how you'd handle the situation or imagine your thought process. You already know.

No parent would touch the money saved for his daughter's chance at a life beyond the age of 14 years old. As a parent you'd die for you child, without hesitation...

I bet he never became tempted to cheat on his wife again!
