I mean I think the thing that did it for me the most is that it was happening to the lovely Jennifer Aniston. I just kept thinking "Oh my god you can't do that to Rachel!!!"

I was very shocked that there was no warning on the dvd sleeve, it usually says 'strong violence' or 'disturbing images' or something but it said nothing! I actively avoid rape portrayed in films as it's too close to home for me so this did shake me up quite a bit.

This was mild compared to other movies and it was all part of the act. Besides it was unrealistic who wears pantyhose without underwear. It was just for shoock and to add more drama to the movie.

And I found this disturbing too, even when it's fake and just acting - makes me disgusted to see a woman being overpowered by a scumbag to the point I'd want to kill the actor in real life.
Also agree that the 'I think I want to *beep* you.' was an odd line.

I don't know about disturbing, but I'd say "unsettling". Particularly when they switch fairly rapidly from this erotic sex scene to one of violence.
There were two odd things which make sense once you know the twist ending. In the one shot he's on top of her about to rape her and her hadns are competely free and she just covers her face. I thought she'd at least try and push him off or something. And at one point she makes some sounds that sound like she's into it.

i personally didnt think it was very disturbing just sucked to be her. as other posters have said the book is way worse. it happens like 6 or 7 times. at least 1 of them was anal rape. later on he like puts her into like really degrading positions. she also seems alot more damaged in the end and charles seems more helpless.
