Was there animal cruelty in the making of this movie?

I heard one of the dogs was beaten during the making of this film.

reply

I don't think there's any way in h*ll that would happen in this day and age.

reply

Yeah, the "I heard" sounds more like "I want to know, so I'm making something up to find out" kind of statement.

reply

That's part of the problem. People don't seem to realize that it does indeed still happen. There have been a couple dozen films in the last 15-20 yrs that have had major abuse exposure but studios and even the AHA suppress it sometimes. Its easily found on google and some of the proof is quite substantial.

reply

Indeed. Many movie goers ignore that animals are abused on set, even nowadays and in huge blockbusters such as The Hobbit... it's disgusting how clueless most people are.

Read the article in the Hollywood Reporter on animals injuries and/or deaths, dogs, horses and farm animals (were killed on Peter Jackson Hobbit movie) 4 horses were killed during the filming of HBO's Luck, chipmunks from Failure to Launch, fish, squid from Privates of the Caribbean, tiger from Life of Pi almost drowned. A giraffe died on set of Zookeeper, dogs suffering from bloat and cancer died during the production of New Regency’s Marmaduke and The Weinstein Co.’s Our Idiot Brother, respectively (an AHA spokesman confirms the dogs had bloat and says the cancer “was not work-related”). In March 2013, a 5-foot-long shark died after being placed in a small inflatable pool during a Kmart commercial shoot in Van Nuys. Two horses died while making Flicka.

As for Eight Below one of the Husky's was badly injured when it's trainer punch the dog in the diaphragm numerous times, all the dogs were placed in one of the hugglund directly instead of their crates and then placed on the hugglund to transport. It doesn't matter if at the end of the credits you see the American Humane Association credits “No Animals Were Harmed during the making of this film.” Doesn't necessarily means it's true. 🐯 🐴 🐕 🐎🐾🐾🐾 🐾🐾🐾

4 pictures of animals that were injured without any links to a legit site. your hollywoodreporter article looks like a bunch of assumptions and opinions based on nothing. it feels no different than some random person walking up to you on the street trying to convince you that aliens have landed. shouldnt believe everything you read on the internet so quickly. actually scratch that, if your that gullible, then if you send me 200$ right now and ill send you back 600$!

This is a load of crap and you know it. There always seems to be at least one person that's going to rain on everyone's parade. Shame on you for trying to start an unfounded rumor.

I was wondering the same thing... Anyone know?

reply

Yes, which makes this movie even worse.

The report by The Hollywood Reporter accuses the American Humane Association (AHA) – the issuer of the familiar “no animals were harmed” credit – of not only failing to protect animals on set, but also of covering up those lapses. According to the report, a husky dog was punched in the diaphragm on Disney’s 2006 film Eight Below
