House of Fun
Never thought this film through time would be a classic fun film. Saw it several times at the theater and thought it would've been the common type. But through the years its been hard to top as a fun theater popcorn film. The cast is a lot of fun. I liked that they dont give any of the cast any special treatments. All of them go through hell. The idea of the entire village being abandon and full of wax is so original. The "killers" are so intriguing. They didnt pick an ugly guy and the story is sad. The ugly one is a cool killer. Almost nothing can stop him. The soundtrack is a lot of fun. Dont remember a bad track and it went well with the movie. It had manson. Because the movie is in an empty town in an obscure wax it feels like a theme park ride. Almost like your in the adventure. The plot doesnt have many plot holes that I can remember that you felt were like that was over top. I noticed some Elisha lips stop bleeding from her lips and finger but that was acceptable. In reality of course she shouldve easily opened her glued lips and shouldve never stopped bleeding from her lips or cut finger. She probably wouldve passed out on the missing finger and her lips with glue I dont think wouldve looked like that. But all that is passable. Its an action/ horror movie. I dont remember anybody not having a good time when they saw this. Now to get to the best part Paris Hilton. Her role wasnt that bad. She probably got short changed because she sort of was the main attraction. Whether you liked her " yea she was a blockbuster movie" or you hated her " yea kill her" she brought in a lot to the box office. She shouldve made more movies I dont think she made that many. Okay for her role, it was pretty good. She had a great body and didnt have an overly pornographic scene. It was done in good taste and she pleased everyone with her death though it was a bit brutal it was still a good memorable kill. This film was full of them and the gore was fun because it made you jump not cringe. The finger one was ugh ugly but it was still fun as you wanted him to do it and yuck. lol. after a few secs. you forgot about it. The scene in the theater where he was looking for her between the waxes was a lot of fun because it went with us being in the theater like he was looking at us. I dont think this movie was in 3-D but it had so many scenes it should've been. I hope they take it in 3D because it definitely deserves it. It gave more 3-D scenes than I can recall in an actual 3-D film and the good kind too. The Paris Hilton death reeked of it along with the cross knife one and the many 3-D mannequins. I really liked this movie and it was the quintessential take a hot girl to the movies with a full on popcorn and soda. This era had some good gems. Where are our times gone?
