Unfair ratings just because of Paris..?

This movie is simply great and you can't tell me that there is anything wrong with it. Even though the plot was based on the original House of Wax (1953) it is extremely original. Jaume Collet-Serra did a great job as the director of it and the cast themselves did really really good. Yes, by that I mean also Paris Hilton. She may not be the most amazing actress on the whole Earth but she did good. I guess the role suited her because I cannot say anything bad about her performance. I mean, obviously could be better but it was good enough.

I really liked this movie also except for Paris Hilton, ugh, shes so gross, pathetic and awful. horrible, unsexy, blah, bland, rat nosed face on a body of disgusting human being.

reply

Why all that hate though? I can understand she is not one of the most talented people (or even anywhere close to that) but she is just a human being. She got lucky because of her parents' money - Yes! But why do you need to hate so much? I'm not trying to say I love her but she isn't that awful. In fact, she seems like such a nice person if you watch any interview with her.

reply

Why don't you post up a photo of yourself, then, so we can all see how sexy and non-disgusting of a human being you are? Perhaps you could share some photos from your latest underwear modeling shoot?

The fact that Paris Hilton is in the film kept me from watching it for a very long time. It was recently added to Netflix, and I decided to finally give it a watch. I really thought she was the lead actress honestly. I was surprised to see that Jared Padalecki was in it, and Elisha Cuthbert is the lead actress. Also I love horror, and this was a very pleasant surprise. I will be watching this again for sure.

I remember this movie getting trashed when it came out over Paris being in it, so it's nothing new. No doubt if she wasn't part of the cast, this would have a higher rating than a 5.3; probably not by a large amount, but I'd say at least a 6.

When you pit this against most slashers of the early 2000s, it's definitely a top-quality flick and is way better than the majority. The special effects are practical and top-notch, and there are so many great scenes once they arrive in the town (the movie theater scene IS classic). It's a good movie.

reply

Probably. This really is a very entertaining slasher, and I wouldn't be surprised if people who haven't even seen it, rated it low, just because of her.

I also love how nobody would give her credit for her performance in this. She was really good, and especially for someone who isn't even an actress to begin with.

For a slasher film it's pretty decent. As a film in general I wouldn't say it's amazing. But it should get more credit in the horror genre. It had a pretty decent cast too.

reply

yes, definitely... very well done movie, and was surprised myself how well Paris did.

Paris Hilton = not an actress.

The ratings of this movie is very unfair, but I put that down to the fact that not everyone "gets" horror movies particularly slashers... Doubt it has much to do with Paris Hilton...

When this came out the only thing being talked about was Paris Hilton. How awful she is, how much the movies gonna suck, how she's going to bring it down, how it's just a showcase for her acting career to take off, how she's not a real actress, etc. Thrns out she had a small role with limited dialogue and had a great death scene.

Anyway point is a lot of unwarranted hate was thrown towards this movie just because of Hilton when it first came out. I even thought it was lame she got a role. But the finished product was a lot of fun and if given a chance a lot more people like this movie than you'd expect.
