wouldn't they be inbreeding?

When Jeremy has sex with Gloria. Everyone was asking how Jeremy and John were related to the family and they said through Uncle Ned's kids. So if this was the case then why didn't anyone think hey Gloria is banging her 3rd cousin or whatever it would have been?

Uncle Ned's kids could be on the Groom's side so they wouldn't be related at all

When they are at the wedding they sit on the groom's side. The man they sit next to asks "So... how do you know the groom?"

reply

Yeah, so even though they aren't blood related they are still family after the wedding right? 5th cousin or whatever it would be called.

a friend of mine had a cousin who married her cousin but one was on the moms side and one was on the dads side so nothing weird about that I guess

Old-School Big-Money Politically Juiced-In Families do that all the time. Look at Franklin Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor. 5th cousins.

Do you know how far apart in relation that is? That means they share the same great-great-great-great grandparents.

1st cousins can marry in over half of the states, 5th cousins is not a big deal.

reply

I agree that 5th cousins is no big deal. But first cousins, thats pretty perverted...

reply

To add to FDR, he was also related to 11 other presidents of the United States, apparently, the most obvious one being Theodore Roosevelt, but others including George Washington and James Madison. Though some are by marriage only, but still.

reply

Its not inbreeding and I dont get how its wrong. Its perfectly legal to marry your 1st cousin why would they be a problem even if related?

If you think about it 6 degress of seperation is true. Especially inNorthern Ireland where I live a small country with a few settlers. You will find most people are very distantly related if you look back far enough.

reply

In some states it's legal, but not in others. But most places it's not really common or accepted.

reply

northern ireland isnt a country

reply

They werent first cousins!!!! its already been explained they pretended to be on the grooms side

reply

The guests didn't know that they were banging the bridesmaids, and I'm sure that Jeremy didn't say "I'm your cousin" as his pick-up line.
