I've seen this movie more times than I care to count. And every time when John calls Jeremy a hillbilly and white trash, it was always lost on me why he was saying that. Then later he says "I don't even know where that came from," and it's like ok, makes more sense. It wasn't till Wedding Crashers was on back to back tonight that I realized Rebecca De Mornay uses the same insults during the mediation at the very beginning of the movie. The two events are spaced out enough that I never tied it together till now. Mindblow.

That is hilarious.. I thought it was a jab at Dwight yokam who is known as a country singer and playing white trash hillbillies in several films, most notably" Slingblade"..

Well done! In the hundreds of times I've seen this movie I've never tied those two scenes together. Even funnier now when you think about it.

Just watched this for the first time today and I noticed that too. It just wouldn't make sense for an insult without the opening scene. Even Jeremy has this look on his face when he is called hillbilly.
