I think he really surpassed his usual comic performance.
There are clearly scenes where even Owen is smiling or laughing at his reactions and improvisations. Especially in the cases that he is tortured by Gloria and Todd he is really living the scene.
Watching again for the first time in a long time, I have to say that I think you're right. Excellent job, extremely funny and great acting. As much as anything, I appreciate his subtle facial expressions, ticks, usage of his eyes, etc. In very small ways, he's very good at generating big laughs. Great comedic actor.
I haven't seen this in years and it happens to be on tonight. I forgot how funny this movie is.
Vince Vaughn is perfect in this. When he realized that he slept with that 'stage 5 virgin clinger' who's totally off the reservation, not being able to shake her, I laughed in ways I never knew existed. Also, when he made that balloon bicycle for that kid--great stuff.
This movie is one of the best ever made. And what about Christopher Walken? He could recite children's rhymes and he'd still freak me the hell out. Love him.
~Keep some room in your heart for the unimaginable~
Absolutely. There are a few scenes where he's saying one thing one thing to Owen Wilson, but his eyes are screaming another. Such as the scene where he's saying to John that going to the house for the weekend sounds like a wonderful idea, but the way he's looking at him... You can tell he's simply saying, "what the *&!$ are you doing??"
Every scene with Vince Vaughn in it is hilarious. HIs lines which you can tell at times they were improvised and his facial expressions throughout the movie were perfect.
A lot of people hate on Vaughn and his recent movies but it's movies like this that make him one of my favorite actors. It shows if he has a good supporting cast around him, he's hilarious.
