Danny's brother, Louie

I am a new viewer of CSI: NY and just love it. Currently am watching the series in order and am in the midst of season 5. I have to ask: Danny's brother was beaten during the episode in season 2(?) dealing with the body in Giants Stadium, his history with the Tanglewood Boys and protecting Danny that night in the stadium by sending him abruptly away. Later, in the present, Danny tells Mac that Louie was beaten very badly and it doesn't look promising that he'll make it. Does the series ever mention Louie's fate again, because I don't recall it being addressed since that initial episode and would love to see some mention of him, closure, etc. Thanks in advance for the help.

They implied that Louie is dead. In the episode where Sheldon is at the Pennsylvania jail, at the lab they were talking about past embarrassments. Danny said he had Louie but they didn't say for sure.
