Question about the mayor

Hi,

If you haven't seen my previous post then just want to say I'm a UK viewer new to the show trying to catch up to date. Currently up to the end of season 6 but was just wondering about a previous episode.

In season 4, episode 18 where the school guidance counselor is killed and we find out that the mayor's daughter slept with some guy who was an ex-con pretending to be a high school student to abuse girls.

At the end of the episode, the mayor shoots the man who raped his daughter in the interrogation room. What ever happened to the mayor? Was it just dismissed or have I missed something??

It wasn't the mayor actually, it was the Deputy Inspector's daughter who was assaulted and the Inspector is the one who pulled the trigger.

I think it was in the 'My name is Mac Taylor' episode in season 5 do we meet the new Deputy Inspector. I don't remember if they said what happened to him but one can assume he either resigned or fired then put on charges of murder.
