NO! No Redemption for Leonard...?

Just when I was finally enjoying an episode where an unsub get's the rare redemption, the preview for next week shows just the opposite.

"He was alive yesterday?."

Unsub? LOL, someone's a Criminal Minds fan! I love the quote, by the way. That's my favorite episode.

And I'm really disappointed about the direction they're taking with Leonard. I was shocked to see the preview since the whole episode he kept saying how he would never intentionally hurt someone. Oh well.

Hey, it's a thingie! A fiendish thingie!

Thanks, oddly I just changed my old siggy today after posting here! I'm sure it'll be good next week but I also liked the ending as it was. An unknown future of redemption... or not...?

I believe the term 'unsub' from Criminal Minds means "Unknown Subject" and Leonard is KNOWN, right? Did this 'Leonard' character appear in a previous episode? What ACTOR plays Leonard the mad fire lover? The imdb.com database does not list all the characters for the 1st & 2nd episodes of this new season. Is that Rob Morrow from Northern Exposure??

reply

Yes, that's Rob Morrow from Northern Exposure and Numb3rs, although I really loved him in Northen Exposure the best (and I'm watching an episode on DVD right now)! I liked that he has longer hair and smiled and joked like he did in Northern Exposure, since in Numb3rs he had short hair and was a staight man because of his character!

I thought at the end of the episode when we see him looking at the flame on the stove that he might be coming back again! I look forward to seeing him since I really, really had a big crush on him in Northern Exposure - he was so funny and cute as Joel Fleischman!

btw Unsub does mean unknown subject - I watch Criminal Minds also!

reply

Yes, I know he was known, I just couldn't pull up another word right away, unsub just comes to mind so easily for CM fans I suppose!

I could've said 'suspect' but pretty early on he wasn't a suspect as far as Mac was concerned. I saw Rob's name in the opening credits but promptly forgot it even while I was watching leonard and then suddenly... I saw him! Then it was almost hard not to see him, like when Jason Alexander played an unsub on CM.

Though yes, technically he was just a "sub" too, because he came in at the beginning of the episod and confessed! I can't win!

I'm not that concerned about redemption or not, but I did have thoughts at that end piece.
1. I'd rather he not return. I think his story should've ended with him moving on and hopefully never setting more fires.
2. I had the thought that I would run background checks on new tenants and anyone in jail for setting fire to buildings would not make it in mine! They should rent houses away from others, lol.
3. If they insist on bringing him back, I hope it's not drawn out. He'd set another, they catch him and he goes to jail. A bit predictable though.
4. Why the poop aren't credits on imdb yet?

Real LOSERS spell 'loser' looser!

reply

About the credits, I have no idea.

I have had to submit corrections concerning credits for 'Near Death' a few time already. Hoping they will fix it.

reply

I've noticed that in the last year (maybe two?) that credits for current episodes of shows I watch, the CSI's, CMs, L&O etc, basically cop dramas, have not been kept current like in the past and in fact even the actor's credits aren't updated until days after the show is aired.

I suspect that's to prevent spoilers, both guest stars and returning characters. It's frustrating for me sometimes but I see the logic in not revealing the guest stars. Esp. if an unsub, suspect, perp, felon, etc. returns for a surprise appearance!

Well that sure was a shocking new crime show twist of motive...

Wanting to exact revenge on your abusive step-parent and siblings.

Predictable, sure, but, it is reliable. I mean, if he was just born a pyromanic...well, I guess it's just me, but, I'd hope there is a reason rather than him just being crazy.

reply

Being just crazy works for me. I mean me, literally!

reply

Lol. If I already wasn't a crime procedural junkie I think crazy would be good; but, I've watched too many of them, so just crazy doesn't quite cut it any more.

reply

I agree. Crazy just doesn't cut for me either. I liked how they explained it. It gave me the heepie-jeebies. There is something about fire, especially the way they portrayed it, that is just terrifying. I got the creeps and that was in large part because of Morrow's performance. He was good in this role.

There's something here that doesn't make sense. Let's go and poke it with a stick.-The Doctor
