Sid Hammerbach, MD/Coroner

Did I hear correctly in the dialogue tonight (FRI Jan. 4, 2013, 8pm-9pm CST) that the character of the ME/coroner 'Sid Hammerbach, MD' has told Jo (Sela Ward) in confidence that he has been diagnosed as having Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma aka 'cancer'? Is the actor ill with cancer in real-life? Or is this just a storyline of the show ONLY? NEED 411 ASAP, PLEASE? Thanks to any/all who respond ...

I hope not! I love his character! I was crying!

I hadn't heard anything about him being sick. He didn't look well. I hope that was only makeup.

You did hear that correctly in the dialogue, but I don't know if Robert Joy has it. This gives me a sad; Sid is one of my top three favorites on the show.

I hope it's just with the charcter of Sid. I wonder if Sid is going to die of it.I hope not. I was surprised when I saw it on the show.
I remember when Sid was talking about his invention. What was it again?

Some kind of pillow.

And I was wondering as well if it was makeup. I noticed the undereye circles the most.

I've only seen the last FEW seasons of the show 7-8-9 and yes i too was practically crying when he said that. I kinda knew he was the Guardian Angel, it looked like the show was gonna end, then it kept going

Now this.

VERY VERY SAD :(

busybook91,
When he first designed the pillow and had Mac test it, he called it the "Sleep Like a Corspe Pillow". It was Mac that suggested he change the name.

Yes, but what about the cure?
Or a very expensive and exclusive medicine?
i mean, he had a lot of money, at least try them, he doesn't have anything to loose.

I've been reading a lot about cancer and other diseases, I'm sad to think that anyone could be infected, some day, even if you don't smoke/dring/havin unprotected sex/etc/etc/etc... (if I'm mistaken, please tell me.).

I know a student who needs 20.000 euros to go in Austria for a surgery, I don't know what type of cancer or where he has it.

Heck, who wouldn't want $100.000 to keep them in a safe bank and use them for restoring Health..

My sister-in-law died of non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2002 after suffering with it for 13 years. She went into remission twice. They were coming up with several new therapies that have proven pretty effective; some of these were used with her experimentally between '98-'01 when she decided to stop any further treatment. Early diagnosis and treatment has been pretty effective for n-HL. Hopefully though, it's just the character not the actor.
