I loved it because it was a battle of minds a chess match that used every legal method to out wit the killers and get the evidence to convict the killers.
If you didn't like it you do not understand how real police get confessions. The writers did an outstanding job.
Yeah, and it stuck a nerve there with the line:
"We can protect your family"
"No, you cannot."
This is the cornerstone to US organized crime problems.
Witness protection program is the best weapon against it.

There a several things that totally bother me about cop shows.
"We can protect you/your family". Not true. Even the witness protection program does not guarentee protection.
"I promise you, we'll get whoever did this". Never make a promise you may not be able to keep.
"We will find your missing loved one". Okay, partly ture, but that does not always mean they will be alive.
If you make this type of statement, at least use the word "try".
"Take a chance, flip a coin, everything in life is 50/50"
The one part I didn't like is that when they cut to the video room, Mac seemed to indicate that they were going to go after both guys equally for the cop's murder.
While the first guy was a scumbag and was involved, it wasn't directly his fault. He had insisted that they not use guns and came up with a plot to rob the guy without killing him. It was the other psycho that shot him three times.
Yes, the first guy should pay, but I don't think he deserves the same level of punishment as the other guy. I get the impression that Mac wanted to be especially tough on him because it was a cop who died and that if it had been just an average person, he might have tried to help the guy somewhat.
I know it's realistic, but I find it sickening the way the normal rules and considerations go out the window when it's a cop who gets killed.
