Watching CSI:NY for the first time.

I loved the original CSI and CSI miami since the very begining but for some reason i never got into CSI:NY.

Recently Bought the dvds and decided to give it a Go. Watching it from season 1.

Up to season 4 at the moment.

Anyway i am wondering MAC's love interest in season 3 Dr. Peyton Driscoll. It came out of left field and i was wondering.

was Dr.Peyton originally supposed to be Jane Parsons?

I ask because In season 1-2. MAC was flirting with Jane and she had some sort of cute british accent and then the actor obviously left and on season 3. We start of with Mac being in a relationship with a woman with a british accent.

Originally i thought that the actor who played Jane left suddenly and they had someone play her character but when i checked IMDB. they are playing 2 different characters.

Ones name jane and the other is name Peyton. So i don't get it why make peyton have the british accent if they were playing different characters?

Was the original storyline meant to be that Jane was Mac's new love interest?

Not sure why the actress who played Jane Parsons left but I never got the sense she was Mac's love interest. I think maybe it was just something they wanted to do but wanted to see how things went with Peyton.
