CSI NY story lines far inferior to LV. Disjuncted, disjointed - nowheres near the continuity and interest-keeping of LV.

And the pure, gratuitous gore is way over the top - sure - CSI went over the previous border of 'throw up levels' of 'shock' - but the NY version keeps it on the screen for minutes - to what purpose?

And the dialog is ..........

Here's an example of some pretty trite stuff..

Episode 106 if I recall (paraphrased):

Melina: "You're not going to get much sleep in this lifetime"

Mac: "Not if I have things like this case keeping me up"

DUH!!!!!!!!!!!

Storylines in CSI: NY were much more original and creative than in an original CSI.

I agree with you, the crimes/cases on CSI:NY are a lot more interesting IMO.

I will have to agree with wqxyzcj, I have watched all the CSI shows in the franchise but CSI:NY is definitely my favorite. The original one was good, but after several seasons the writing became predictable and the cases were not as interesting anymore...and especially after Marg Helgenberger left the show, my interest in the show just dropped significantly...I was basically addicted to the original CSI in the beginning, watched every episode until Marg left, and after she left I didn't watch it as much anymore and I've skipped some episodes. Catherine Willows was my favorite character on CSI, if it wasn't for her, I think I would've lost alot of interest in the show long before Catherine/Marg left.

On the other hand, I have been addicted to CSI:NY since the very beginning and NEVER missed an episode, I only just started watching CSI:NY a few weeks ago and marathoned through all 9 seasons ever since, and now I've started re-watching it from the beginning again! I must say I am enjoying CSI:NY alot more than I ever did with the other CSI shows. To me the writing on CSI:NY is better, the crimes are also more interesting, and I really like the characters on the NY team alot more. In all the other CSI shows, usually there's only 1 or a few characters I actually like, but in CSI:NY I like most of the characters on the NY team, although my favorites are still Mac, Lindsay & Danny.

I think all these CSI shows have their own uniqueness, positive traits and flaws, even CSI:Cyber which is so heavily criticized has its own enjoyable qualities to me. For me, it really comes down to which version I enjoy the most and that can be depended on a variety of different reasons, and that's how I choose my favorite. And even though I have lost some interest in the original CSI and I was never that much into CSI: Miami, I still watch them occasionally. But CSI:NY is definitely the version I enjoy the most, for all the reasons I had mentioned in my previous post, for me it just has better writing, more interesting cases/crimes and more likable characters, hence CSI:NY is my favorite.
