The season finale is next Friday?

Is there any particular reason why it's ending so early?

reply

Yes, season/series finale is next Friday.

CBS just ordered 17 episodes this season. There was 18 last year so...

reply

Well I guess that answers my question as to whether or not I'll be buying the season disks this year at the same price as the 22-24 episode seasons.

Yes, very unusual. The season finale has been in May, or at earliest, April, for all the CSI programmes. February is too early. Do we have to wait until October for the next season?

reply

The thing is, we will find out in May if this show comes back or not.

reply

Damn May is too long to wait; I so want this show to return; how i will i get my Gary Sinese fix each week? I freaking ADORE him so much.. all these reality crap shows are taking over - or stupid dumb comedies as well.. I like this CSI the BEST out of all the others including the original; after Grissom left it was never the same. i still watch every now and then but its just not the same anymore..

USA Today is thinking the series might be done.

"The dull stepchild of the CSI family comes to an early seasonal and, considering how many hits CBS has and how few open time slots it has available, possibly series finale. True, there aren't a lot of producers clamoring for a Friday time slot — but there certainly should be people fighting to put stars Gary Sinise and Sela Ward to better use than they are here. Ward, in particular, has been a brave soldier for CBS, stepping into this show when the network needed her. It's time for her to claim her reward."

What a pompous, arrogant remark by "USA Today". CSI NY is one of the finest programmes on television. The acting, pacing, direction, storyline, atmosphere and script are all superb! This show towers over programmes like Chicago Fire, Blue Bloods, Flashpoint( Canadian show?)and Rizzoli and Isles, among many others. And it is vastly superior to those awful reality shows and silly comedies, to repeat what another poster said. As quality goes, it is just a magnitude higher than the majority of programmes.

Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope the network asks for its return. I want to see Mac, Jo, Flak and the rest of the gang, for many more years!

reply

True, but I remember at the end of last season that there were questions as to whether it or CSI Miami would return or possibly even both may not have returned. I'm keeping my fingers crossed but don't really have a lot of hope for a return in the fall..

reply

I also hope CSI NY returns for another season, but the last ep did have a definite series finale feel about it.

Just saw that it's been cancelled :(
The season finale for it pretty much sucked - the previous season finale would have been a much better ending.

Just checked out how all the actors have fared since it ended. None have done well, except Hill Harper

well Gary Sinise will be starring in the upcoming Criminal Minds spinoff called 'Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders' that is scheduled to debut next year...anticipation for this new spinoff seems to be quite significant and its pilot on CM had decent ratings. We'll just have to wait and see how well this new show will fair in the ratings.

Most of the other casts haven't had any roles that would be considered very notable since CSI:NY ended...of course they've all done other work since this show ended, but very few of them have had much success since. We can only wait and see how well Gary's new starring role in the CM spinoff will do...while Carmine Giovinazzo had a recurring role in season 2 & 3 of 'Graceland' that has since recently been cancelled in October. Hill Harper has a main role on 'Limitless' which seems to be doing quite well, Eddie Cahill had a main role in seasons 2 & 3 of 'Under the Dome' (which has also recently been cancelled), and A.J Buckley currently has a main role in 'Murder in the First' which seems to be doing quite well on cable. While all the other actors on the main cast I've not mentioned haven't done well since this show ended...but it either could be because they just haven't had much luck lately or it's the actor's own decision to keep their workloads very light.
