I can't believe people keep posting threads like 'not believable' 'absurd' or whatever. This movie is and will always be a masterpiece. Why? Stop watching Zach Efron and Twilight movies and you will know!
Anyone who doesn't appreciate it clearly doesn't get it. Quoting Brendon from the movie 'Folly of youth'
Hey, you forgot to mention Transformers. If you're unable to stand criticism against a movie, why are you in this discussion forum? It's not strictly for fans, you know. But thanks for putting me in the same category as Twilight fans. It makes you an authority. The people here who criticize Brick for its lack of believability actually have an opinion on this film. Do you? Or is it just a masterpiece?
Oh - it's a masterpiece. But if you don't think so, that's OK with me. I have some opinions that cause other people to call me names as well. It's the same old arguments that were used to get us into an endless war: "Do you believe Sadaam or Bush ?" Well, the right answer is 'neither' but if you said that, you were called un-American or worse.
Well said. Far too many people watch movies without the basic concept that movies are not about what they are "about", but how they are about it. In other words, films (no, not fast food knockoffs, like 'Dude, Where's My Car?' or generic cash commodity rom-coms), like novels, are vehicles to express and idea or ideas that the writer(s) and director want to get across. They simply watch films for what is on the surface, what they see, w/o looking for any deeper meaning behind the actions and dialogue involved. They see films like 'The Godfather' or 'The Departed' and only see them as gangster/crime movies. 'Brick' is an exceptional film that shows teens/young adults as possessing intelligence, complexity and moral/ethical questions to deal with. Indeed, quit watching 'Twilight' and other such cookie-cutter fodder cranked out by corporate film studios.
