Bad Setting, Boring

So I just tried watching this on netflix instant and all I could think about in the beginning was how much older the characters looked than regular high school students. While I realize this is pretty standard, the rub of it is the story just doesn't work in a high school environment. Nothing this emo/gritty would ever happen in a high school. I think a post-graduate dump-town (i.e. Walking Tall) would be much more realistic.

I then came to imdb to see what it was rated on here, saw a 7.5, and decided to keep watching. 30 minutes in, I was completely bored, and that brings me to where I am now.

I think that this movie cannot even be described as boring. I mean, it would first have to have a plot of some sort to be considered so. "Nonsense" does it far better justice. As for the ratings... well, long ago I learned not to let myself be misled by the IMDB ratings.

I would have really liked the movie if not for the setting. It's a strange blend of homage and parody where neither works on its own or properly fits with the other.

Don't watch it if you are still in primary school. You are just too young to understand the world of high school.

It's not supposed to be "realistic", like all fiction it works so long as it follows its own rules.

It is a blending of genres. Learn to suspend your disbelief, yeesh.

It is an odd story. Some will like it and some won't.

How do you know ALL that happens in high school, btw? LOL
