Can anyone recommend some movies similar to Brick.
I guess Crime Drama set in high school or involve teens

What did you go out with me for? Just to dump chocolate on my shirt and then dump me altogether.

I would suggest Winter's Bone.

Shame, shame. Don't you know ponytails are out this season?

Better Luck Tomorrow has a similar feel, but they talk like normal kids in that movie

Has anybody tried "The Lookout"? Not the same neo-noir schoolroom , but the plot is clever, intricate and definately non-canonical. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is just as mesmirising in it.

Veronica Mars gets my vote too.

'Red Rock West' is worth a look. VERY underrated Noir from the the 90's. Nicolas Cage is excellent in it!

'The Lookout' is good. JGL was great in it.

You’ve probably already seen it, but the film that Brick immediately brought to mind for me, was Blue Velvet. It has the same sort of protagonist, this socially distant, ball’s out teenage detective getting tangled with damsels in—some pretty serious—distress. But throw in a bunch of David Lynch in his prime, the cinematic mastery of Blue Velvet seems the better version of this tale. That said, I put Brick way up there. I really enjoyed how it played with familiar themes, transposing cliche personalities into roles that make them not so cliche. Hard boiled, emotionally untouchable, quite certainly alcoholic, rogue detective—in a teenage kid. Fun stuff. Some clever camera work, too.

I can't remember anymore if it's actually similar, but for some reason this movie reminded me of Crime + Punishment in Suburbia.
