What does is it mean?

On the cast section it says that a few of the actors played themselves ie:
Emily (as Emilie De Ravin)
Brad Bramish (as Brian White)
Tangles (as Ari Velkom)

Obviously the character of Emily isnt Emilie so what does it mean when it says that an actor is playing a character as themselves?

usually when they put that it just means that they were listed under that name in the movie credits. Some actors/actresses go by different variations of their names like i could go by Evelyn for one film and Evie for another. My middle initial could be used or my last name changed. I could be wrong, but that's just how i took it.

You are exactly right mystical-13. If I make a movie with Robert De Niro and put his name as "Bob De Niro" in the credits, IMDb would say Robert De Niro (as Bob De Niro).

You are correct.

And sometimes the change can be subtle as in the case of Emilie de Ravin in this cast list.

She spells her name as Emilie de Ravin but she is listed "as" Emilie De Ravin in this film, a difference of an uppercase letter.

The other "as" actors had different last names.

Also, not sure if it applies to these three, but a lot of the minor actors were actual students from the HS. If they were just getting into acting they might give one, and like others have said, gone on to slightly modify their stage name.

Does it really HAVE to mean something? It was film noir, a caper, see??
