they did make fun of him,i remember i saw that episode right after he died.on the comentary in jackass 2,they have a moment of silence for steve irwin.

Irwin was a parody of the Australian bush man. Created by America, for Americans. He did nothing but reinforce patronizing stereotypes and set the image of our culture (which is on par with America, England, etc.) back 100 years. Sad that he died but not tragic. He taunted death nearly every day of his life. He was lucky to make it as far as he did and should have put his family before his dangerous profession and retired years ago. The man should be commended for his work and support for the environment but not idolized as a national hero.
