Writers Strike and Other Stuff

Gotta say I am getting a bit mad (late to the party) at the writers strike - yet another show ruined because of that...

Anyway - watched this show without any expectations to like it and I gotta admit there were major problems with it, but man am I pissed it is over.

Overall all major characters pissed me off at one point or another - I found Kyle to be extremely irritating, Tom and Diana well intentions as they might have been had the wrong priorities most of the time, Shawn was weak, and so was Lilly... Richard had zero personality and baby Isabelle was flat out obnoxious and unlikable.

This all being said I saw 4 seasons in a matter of two weeks and I didn't want it to end. At some point of time I understood Jordan and wanted for people to listen to him, I wished Shawn would get his head out of his ass and cheered for Diana when she finally picked up on some obvious clues...

In short this show made me relate to some unrelatable characters - byt the end I even cared about Isabelle. I liked the premise of the war for the future will be fought in the past and frankly I wanted to see more of it.

I am annoyed that the show ended abruptly, left a billion questions unanswered and maybe didn't wrap up as nicely as it could ave in 7 or 8 seasons... hence my annoyance with the reasons why it ended.

Not that this is a very constructive post - more of a rant but hey I wanted to get it out...

Great post. I just finished watching the whole series in 2 weeks as well. You made so many great points about the characters. Some were annoying and some evern under developed. But what a weak ending. It had so much more to go on. It's really a shame this didn't go on. I even heard fans petioned the Network to bring it back but to no avail. Really a shame. In the first season especially it was like a episode by episode show. Them by season 3 it really evolved. Although at times I have to say some of it felt like déjà Vu. Dealing with he same hing over and over. But it was just getting going IMO

There were two books written that take place after the events of the finale. They are "Welcome to Promise City" and "Promises Broken." I've read them both. They weren't bad, and they would provide you with a good sense of were the story would have gone had the show not ended prematurely. I think that the ending of the second book pretty much provides closure to the story as long as you don't bother to read the very last chapter which puts everything right back on a cliffhanger.
